Sim, I think part of what you are looking for is explained in this wiki post: communities.bentley.com/.../10184.can-a-model-be-saved-down-to-an-older-version.aspx In the first paragraph you'll see it says, "if you've created and saved a model in WaterGEMS V8 XM, a user with WaterGEMS V7.0 will not be able to open it. V8 XM has introduced many new element types and features, which cannot be interpreted by the older version." This is the basic premise behind why we can't save down to older versions. The problem occurs when things like the structure of the database is changed slightly, when new element types are added, or when new features are added. For example, let's say that you created a model in the latest version of WaterCAD and used a pump station element or some other element or some other alternative that was not present in the older version of the model; how is the software suppose to maintain all the connections in your water network? I think that along with the fact there are so many older versions that even if we were to make some sort of assumptions on how to do the conversion to the older software it would have to be slightly different for each older version and that would be a lot of code, which would make the software install much larger. I'm sure there are a lot more problems than the ones that I mentioned, but I think those are the predominant reasons why the option has been intentionally omitted. Regards, Mark
