I am in the process of designing a new Water Treatment Plant. At this point we are trying to determine a tie-in location. There is a main line near the highway but there is also an elevated storage tank nearby. We believe that if you tie-in directly to the transmission line then the tank will have inadequate turnover due to pressure in the line not being low enough. Basically the pumps and the clearwell will provide adequate pressure and will over ride the elevated tank. Our thought is to tie into the tank so that the pumps kick on as the water level in the tank is lowering. We are trying to set up a model to show which tap in location is best and have concrete evidence why. To do so I believe i need to know how to model turn over in a tank and how would i go about setting up a model of the transmission line, tank, and pumps at the clearwell.
