Applies To        Product(s): Bentley StormCAD, Bentley WaterGEMS, Bentley WaterCAD, Bentley SewerGEMS, Bentley SewerCAD, Bentley CivilStorm, Bentley HAMMER, Bentley PondPack   Version(s): 08.11.xx.xx   Environment:  N/A   Area:  Installation   Subarea:    Original Author: Scott Kampa, Bentley Technical Support Group                       Steps to Accomplish Here are the general steps that a Haestad product takes when doing the MicroStation integration. 1) When you open the shortcut, it reads the “-wu name ” switch in the shortcut properties, which tells Microstation that it needs to load a certain user configuration file (UCF). For a Windows 7 machine, it looks to the folder location: "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries)\WorkSpace\Users\". In this case, it loads the ProductName .UCF file in that folder, such as StormCAD.ucf. If this location is changed without also changing the path in the shortcut that can cause issues. 2) The .UCF file sets the project as well, which tells MicroStation to load a certain Project Configuration file (.PCF). Typically, the product .UCF file that it should be called is named using the convention “(product name)".UCF, such as "StormCAD.UCF" and it is located in the “Examples” folder found within the MicroStation “projects root”. The default file path is:  "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries)\WorkSpace\Projects\Examples" 3) In the folder location indicated above you can see the product confi .PCF file, which tells MicroStation to load the product .CFG file, which appears to default to C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\(product name)\(product name)\config\appl 4) Now, if you go and find that the product .CFG file on your computer, you’ll see it loads a lot of stuff, namely the MDL stuff that’s the heart of how the product actually shows up for use inside MicroStation. MicroStation's "msconfig.cfg" file can sometimes be changed from the default settings depending on how a system is setup. Reviewing that file may also helps with finding the cause of an issue with the integration. The "msconfig.cfg file can be found at "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries)\MicroStation\config" If any of the above logic isn’t working right, it could cause problems. Note that your CAD manager or IT support staff may be able to help with the setup of this as well, particularly if the default locations are not being used for Haestad product and MicroStation.
