Wiki Page: Zero overflow at manhole despite HGL above rim.

Applies To Product(s): SewerGEMS, CivilStorm Version(s): 10.00.xx.xx, 08.11.xx.xx Area: Calculations Original Author: Jesse Dringoli, Bentley Technical Support Group Problem In SewerGEMS or Civilstorm, why do I see zero overflow for a manhole or catchbasin during a time step in which the HGL at that node is above the rim? Problem Number 32696 Solution First, for a manhole, make sure you do not have a bolted cover (Bolted Cover? = True). If you do not, then this is likely caused by tailwater. In such a case, you can overcome this issue by increasing the LPI coefficient in the advanced calculation options. For example, try a value of 5.0 to 12.0. This allows the calculation solver to have more dynamic effects and account for the overflow from backwater. Note that this will only work for circular conduits. For a catchbasin, if there is a downstream gutter, the "overflow" will be accounted for in the downstream gutter and would not be overflow in the traditional sense in that it is not lost from the system. Hello Douglas, It is possible to freeze columns in the flex tables, so that those are retained for view, even if you are scrolling further, However, that is not the case with reports, I am logging an enhancement for this, reference number is #866203, which shall be considered for the future release of the product. As a workaround you can export the report in format like excel and then in Microsoft excel you can repeat the ID or LABEL columns of elements on each page.

Product(s): WaterGEMS, WaterCAD Version(s): 08.11.XX.XX, Area: Output and Reporting Problem When attempting to validate a model, the following red user notification appears: "Failed to validate model. The model may be corrupt or contain incomplete information." Problem ID#: 51703 Solution This is a generic validation message, which can happen in cases where an unexpected situation was encountered, with no specific validation message for it. Here are some things to check: 1) Pipes missing end nodes. Try running the "Pipes Missing Nodes" query in network Navigator 2) Issues with control conditions or actions. Under Components >Controls, check all conditions and actions, make sure they reference valid settings and element labels. 3) Problems with pump definitions. Check the pump definition for all pumps used in the model. Make sure the type of pump definition is correct and that the head/flow values are reasonable. 4) Problems with fire flow selection set. If you're computing an automated fire flow analysis, check the fire flow selection set in the fire flow alternative. Make sure the selection set contains valid elements. 5) Problems with active demand adjustment scope. Check the adjustment fields in your calculation options. If any are active, check the scope or try setting them to "none". If the above does not help, send the model to technical support for assistance. Forum Post: Help modeling a composite outlet structure in PondPack!

I am trying to model a composite outlet structure that includes a staged weir, an orifice, and an emergency overflow. The main goal is to allow increasing flows through as the water rises, but limit flow to a max of 130cfs until the overflow elevation is reached. I have attached the irregular weir x-section and the composite outlet structure ratings table below. The setup is essentially a suppressed weir with a beam across the top of it so we can use the drainage area as a detention basin. I modeled this as a weir that turns into an orifice, but I think I'm having issues because this is an unusually large orifice? You can see the flow jumps at an unusual rate as soon as it turns to orifice flow. How can I model this to take into account the pressure head that will be there when the water elevation is above the top of the weir opening? Thanks!

Douglas we will open a Service Request on your behalf and link it to the respective enhancement, so that you are alerted if a new version is released with the feature implemented. Product management will need to assess and prioritize along with other enhancements. In the meantime I concur with Sushma's suggestion of exporting to Excel. There are some other possible options mentioned in this related Wiki article: Column wrapping issues in reports

How can this be adjusted? Solution Try adjusting the margins in the page setup dialog Consider changing the page size or change the orientation to landscape, in the page setup dialog. You may need to do this from the File menu before opening the report. You may need to change you text size in your operating system settings from medium or large to small. In most Operating System versions you can do this under Control Panel > Fonts > Change Font Size. Try using a different printer or printer driver. This can impact the appearance of the report. If you have a print-to-PDF printer driver available, you can try setting this as the default printer, which has been known to help as well. For flextable reports, if you're using a version of a product that supports it, consider using the "report in XML" option (see button at top of flextable) If you're using a version of a product that supports it, consider exporting to another format. For example as of the CONNECT Edition releases of the storm/sewer and water products, the Custom Reports feature can export data to a spreadsheet. In flextables, you can also use the export button in the upper-left corner. For PondPack, make sure that you are using the latest version with the latest available cumulative patch set applied. See articles in the "See below" For FlowMaster, see the article below for adjusting overlapping text in the footer. See Also Downloading Haestad / Hydraulics and Hydrology Software Cumulative patch sets for Hydraulics and Hydrology products The footer of the reports generated in Flowmaster is overlapping or I want to remove the footer.

Wiki Page: The specified module could not be found (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)

Applies To Product(s): SewerGEMS, WaterGEMS, StormCAD, SewerCAD, WaterCAD Version(s): 08.11.XX.XX Area: Other Original Author: Terry Foster, Bentley Technical Support Group Error or Warning Message When trying to open any model (lesson file, sample file, or existing project) with a .dxf background layer or when importing .dxf through Modelbuilder , the following errors appear: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) or "The program can't start because acdb19.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem." Background The first error can occur in a few different cases, involving video card drivers or a component called RealDWG, which is used to work with DXF files. The acdb19.dll error can occur if something has happened to the "acdb19.dll" (AutoCAD 2013/2014) or "acdb20.dll" (AutoCAD 2015/2016) files or they are missing. They're used to by the hydraulics and hydrology products to read/write .DXF files. How to Avoid Option 1 - Install the latest patch set or update AutoCAD version If you're using WaterCAD, WaterGEMS, or HAMMER you should try to upgrade to SELECTseries 5 (08.11.05.61) or greater, which includes a fix for this issue. If you are using SewerCAD, SewerGEMS, or CivilStorm you should upgrade to SELECTSeries4 (08.11.04.54) then install the latest patch set for that version, which includes the same fix. Below is a wiki link with directions on how to download the latest version of the software. *If those ideas don't work others have reported that upgrading to a newer version of AutoCAD, which contains the latest release of the "acdb20.dll" (currently most recent as of 2106) file. Option 2 - RealDWG In case the problem is related to the RealDWG component, first check that there is a RealDWG subfolder in the program's installation folder. For example C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\WaterGEMS\RealDWG\ If this folder is missing, download and re-install the software again, but on the second install of the software right click on the executable file and choosing the "Run as Administrator" option. If the RealDWG folder is present and contains files, try copying those files to the root of the installation folder, the "x64" subfolder, and in the root of your C drive. Also, search for the file in question (if the error identifies the file name) and if found copy that file to the RealDWG subfolder within the program's installation folder. If that does not help, locate and open the config file in a text editor such as Wordpad. This is the file with the extension "config". For example for WaterGEMS, it would be WaterGEMS.exe.config. If you are using the 64-bit version of the software, you may need to modify this file in both the root installation folder (such as C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\WaterGEMS\) as well as in the "x64" subfolder". Once open in a text editor, modify to look as follows: The modification has been made to the highlighted line. Option 3 - Video Card Driver update If the RealDWG is not the issue, check if you have had a video card driver update recently. If so, try rolling that back, or upgrade to a newer card version. (We have seen this with at least one case with an HP driver for Intel HD 400.) One way to check if it is the video card driver is to boot your computer in safe mode. This will use a different, generic driver. If you are able to open the project in safe mode, this helps to confirm it is a video driver issue. Option 4 - Clean Reinstallation If the above does not help, try uninstalling and reinstalling the software. A "clean" uninstallation is suggested, whereby a few related folders in your user profile are deleted, before reinstalling. See below article: How do I perform a clean uninstall and reinstall of the Hydraulic and Hydrology products? Option 5 - Convert the file to another format If all else fails, try converting the DXF file to another format such as shapefile. If you have access to AutoCAD Map 3D, the MAPEXPORT command can be used. If you have access to ArcGIS, open the DXF file in ArcMap, right click on the layer to export and select Data > Export Data. There are also some free utilities available online. See Also Error opening model with DXF background layer applied: A procedure imported by 'Haestad.RealDWG.Interop" could not be loaded

What I would try is setting up a Flex table with exactly the columns i need at the correct size. Then pick Reports > Custom Reports. Within Custom Reports, pick New > Scenario for the scenario you want and Flex Table. Read the Help for details.

Hello Michelle, We have discussed this issue further and have determined that the error is likely related to the RealDWG component that WaterGEMS relies on in order to display DXF files. It sounds like your models do have DXF background files. In order to confirm that this is the cause, and potentially provide access to your model, try deleting the model's associated .DWH file to remove the link to the background layer, then try reopening. As for troubleshooting the issue itself, please try the steps (copying files and editing the config file) in the "Option 2 - RealDWG" section of this article . If this does not help, please generate a .DMP file from the WaterGEMS.exe process in task manager while the error is still on the screen, zip the file and upload it to the following link: https://bentley.sharefile.com/r/r75dd4a825f240ecb The steps to generate the DMP file are located at the bottom of this article . Our developers may be able to determine more clues by looking at this memory dump file.

Product(s): StormCAD, CivilStorm, SewerGEMS Version(s): 10.00.00.45 Area: Modeling Problem When computing a model in StormCAD (or with the GVF-Rational solver in SewerGEMS or CivilStorm), the program hangs and says that it is not responding. Solution The following are some possible reasons for this. In general, it is best to ensure that you are using the latest version of the product 1) Unsolvable Inlet capacity equations - One possible cause of this is the settings of catch basins in the model. It can occur if the inlet capacity equations cannot be solved based on the min and max range. In this case, the issue was resolved in the cumulative patch set for version 10.00.00.45 and in future full releases. Reference # 746305 2) Bad input data for Pipe-Arch conduits - Another cause will be if incorrect data is included with the pipe-arch conduit type. In this case, you will see a user notification indicating what needs to be changed when validating the model. Correct the pipe-arch catalog entry to resolve this. In a future version, a validation message will be included instead of the hang. Reference # 749306 3) Circular pipe convergence issues - If this occurs in a model with circular pipes, you can also try setting the "Use explicit depth and slope equations" calculation option to "True". This option was introduced in V8i SELECTseries 3 (08.11.03.XX). 4) Modified Basket-Handle convergence issues - If this occurs in a model with conduits set as "Modified Basket-Handle" as the shape, you may be encountering a known issue that was addressed in a patch to version 10.00.00.45 (and included in future versions). The issue involved such conduits operating in the range between the top of the vertical side portion of the Modified Basket-handle and the half-circle top portion. The patch ensures that the program consistently treats such conduits per their definition (as seen in the help). In this definition, the "Rise" of the conduit is only the vertical side of the rectangular portion at the bottom of this shape (with the half-circle part at the top rising further above this), whereas previously some parts of the program (including profiles and the "full capacity" figure) treated the "Rise" as the full height of the shape. Reference #766303. Please contact Bentley Technical Support for more information. 5) Structure loss Method - In some cases, this has occurred due to the structure loss method selected in the calculation options (EGl or HGL). Try toggling this to see if it has an impact. 6) Diversions without a flow split - if a conduit is set as a diversion link (is diversion link = true), there should be one other conduit connected to the upstream node, as diversions are only needed with a flow split. If you have a situation where a series (linear path) of conduits has one conduit set as a diversion, this can cause the program to hang. In this case, please choose "false" for "is diversion link". Reference # 866580.

Hello Adam, I don't see details of the orifice in the screenshots provided, so it's difficult to tell what about the orifice might cause the issues. I also don't see other results. I may need some additional information on the setup of this, but it appears that you basically have the irregular weir that you are modeling, as well as another weir at the beam. Is that "Weir-1" and "Emergency Overflow"? If so, that might be sufficient. By adding an orifice, you would not only have the irregular weir contributing, but the orifice as well. If they represent the same thing, you are adding flow to a rating curve that is not needed. If the orifice is a separate element, more information on where this is in relation to the weirs and the properties of the orifice would be needed. It may also be useful to have a copy of the model files. This link has information on sending the files to us. Regards, Scott

Though it's not what I wanted to hear thanks for considering the change. Having the ability to do either would help streamline the design process; which, after all, is what the program is supposed to do.

Thanks so much for responding.I didn't do a very good job of explaining myself earlier. Basically the structure is a weir with a top on it. So flow would act like normal weir flow until it reached the top (what i called the beam before) then water would back up and it would be a surcharged weir or a large orifice. Does that make sense? There is one opening that acts as a weir then turns into a surcharged weir. I'm not sure the best way to model this in PondPack. Let me know if you need any further information.
