You mentioned that you have demands per sub-zone in a spreadsheet, but how exactly does that look like? Does a "subzone" in your spreadsheet represents a total demand for a polygon area that encompasses multiple demand nodes? How is that polygon represented in the spreadsheet? Do you have a polygon shapefile of these zones, to go along with it? Regarding service areas - you can certainly manually draw polygons, but they'll need to have a field in the metadata (database) that defines the ElementID of the respective node (this is the ID seen in junction properties, for example). The easiest method is to use the Thiessen Polygon tool in WaterGEMS to generate the service area polygons for you, and assign them to the respective node's ElementID.

Dilip, The book that Craig mentions should help on the theory/practice side. You may also want to look into taking classes on civil and/or hydraulic engineering.

Hello Dilip, As mentioned by Jesse, in his post it would be beneficial for you to have training on the hydraulic engineering theory to thoroughly understand WaterGEMS and the theory behind it. The book specified earlier has got all the theoretical knowledge and the quick start lessons contain the practical application of the software. I purchased Pond Pack 9.0 In 2004 from Haestad. It's a 32 bit software that we have been using for years. We recently purchased new computers and are working on installing software on them. The new computers are windows 10 64 bit. Is there a way to download a 64 bit version of the software without having to purchase a new license or purchase new software?

Looking at the Software Download page it appears the latest Pond Pack available would be the 32 Bit V8i version. This version is not certified for Windows 10. It is also only 32bit not 64Bit. Being only 32Bit would not be an issue, a large number of our Products are only 32 bit. Hello Thomas, The latest version of PondPack (08.11.01.56) supports Windows 10. PondPack 9 is not compatible with Windows 10. You will need to either: 1) Install version 9 on a computer with compatible operating system 2) Install version 9 on a Virtual Machine (VM) with a compatible operating system. A VM can run inside Windows 10. 3) Upgrade to the latest version and install directly on Windows 10. If you upgrade (option 3), please check out the below article from our wiki, which outlines some of the major changes between version 9 (and 10) and V8i: communities.bentley.com/.../whats-new-in-pondpack-v8i-faq If you cover PondPack under a SELECT subscription, you can upgrade without having to buy a new license.

Provide additional water when there are high flow events like fires 3. Dampen out pressure fluctuations and generally reduce transients 4. Enable pumps to be turned off to save energy You need to use extended period simulations to analyze how tanks will perform. If you are in a hilly area, you would put the tank on the hillside at an elevation to provide good pressure. If you are in a flat area, you would use an elevated tank.

I'd like to add a bit more explanation to clarify the versioning of PondPack. Haestad Methods PondPack 9.0 was first released in 2003, when Windows XP was the latest operating system available. PondPack 10.0 was first released in 2005, shortly after Haestad Methods was acquired by Bentley Systems. Bentley PondPack V8i (version number 08.11.01.XX) was first released in 2009, around the time when Windows 7 was released. The latest release supports Windows 10. Of course, it may seem a bit strange to go from version "10" to "8", but "V8i" aligned PondPack with the Bentley V8i generation - it integrates with MicroStation V8i, ProjectWise V8i, etc. Regarding 32-bit vs 64-bit - As Todd mentioned, 32-bit applications can still run on a 64-bit operating system, but you won't be able to use the 13 year old PondPack version 9.0 on the new Windows 10 operating system. I've worked with PondPack 9.0 and 10.0 in the past and I would wholeheartedly recommend upgrading to V8i. Although it may take some time to familiarize yourself with the new interface and other changes, there are numerous improvements to usability and added features and functionality to help you be more successful. Hello Winnie, Look at the "Wire Power" instead of the "Water Power". The "Water Power" is what is delivered to the water from the pump. The cumulative energy used will be higher due to the pump efficiency. What do you see for the "wire to water efficiency" column?
