Hello, .INP files are typically EPANET files. If that is the case, you can import the file into WaterCAD by going to File > Import > EPANET. That will import the data from the file into the WaterCAD format. Regards, Scott

Sir, Thanks for your carefull notice. In order to convert the existing intermittent water supply distribution network to continuous( i.e. 24 x7) supply distribution network , i consider two main principal to make hydraulic model -1) water loss reduction(in terms of Non revenue water) and 2) Fix-up or optimize the water level of elevated service reservoir for different nodal demand pattern. please help me to do hydraulic model and Darwin design the same by using waterGEMs software

Here is some background information on this: communities.bentley.com/.../8087.importing-or-exporting-to-watercad-watergems-hammer-from-other-softwares Typically, getting the model into the EPANET format is the best option. As .INP is an EPANET file format, you may just need to import the .INP file using the steps in my earlier post. Regards, Scott

Hello Ashutosh, In terms of water loss reduction, you should consider about water leakage detection in the system. To detect the water loss due to leakage, Darwin Calibrator can be used, here is the technote about performing leakage detection using Darwin Calibrator. communities.bentley.com/.../20761.performing-leakage-detection-using-darwin-calibrator About fixing the water level at a reservoir, you can edit the reservoir level manually and try few different scenarios, to know which one gives the better results. About using Darwin designer , for modeling, here is technote on using Darwin Designer. communities.bentley.com/.../6271.using-darwin-designer Hope this helps you. Regards, Sushma

Solution Go to View>Zoom>Zoom Extents, this may bring up model elements in picture. There may be some elements or parts of background layer far off in the distance from each other. Try turning off the background files. See the this technote for example and for more details. Check all node flextables for "NaN" or "infinity" for the X/Y coordinates. Please open each node’s flextable, add the X and Y columns and sort them, check them all. You may see some of them show as "infinity". If you delete or fix the coordinates of these nodes, you will be able to see the model. To do this, you can export the flextable as a CSV file using the export button in the top left corner, then change the X and Y in Excel to the correct value or to something else like zero, then use Modelbuilder to only "update" changes, mapping the label as the key field and the X and Y fields. Or Rebuild the model with the Modelbuilder with correct with correct settings/better source data. See Also Building a model with Modelbuilder Importing dxf as background

Forum Post: WaterGEMS for ArcMap Network Editing
I am working on a WaterGEMS model within the ArcMap version, and am having issues editing my pipe/junction network. Tools like "merge nodes in close proximity" appear to be unavailable within the ArcMap version? Also, I am trying to disconnect a pipe from one junction and re-connect it to another junction without having to re-draw it. Doesn't look like I can do that either?

Note: This only applies in SewerGEMS if you are using the GVF Convex Solver Solution You can set this in the calculation options in the location shown below You can also specify local tractive stress on a per-pipe basis: Then, after computing the model (GVF Convex Solver), you can see the calculated tractive stress and whether or not it met the target. These results are found in the properties of the conduit under the "Results (Tractive Stress)" section or in a Flextable. You can also color code by "tractive stress target exceeded" or "tractive stress target ever exceeded" to visualize:

Wiki Page: How do you create a free form annotation?
Applies To Product(s): Bentley WaterGEMS, Bentley SewerGEMS, Bentley CivilStorm, Bentley StormCAD, Bentley PondPack, Bentley SewerCAD, Bentley HAMMER, Bentley WaterCAD Version(s): 08.11.XX.XX Environment: N\A Area: Output and Reporting Subarea: N\A Original Author: Mark Pachlhofer, Bentley Technical Support Group How to How do you create a free form annotation? Background The free form annotation gives the user more control over how the label appears in your drawing area. It allows for the use of any character on the keyboard to be input as part of the annotation, so it's a powerful tool for quickly visualizing what is happening at a given element. The tool can be used for displaying labels in profiles and in the element symbology for the elements in your model drawing space. Steps to Accomplish 1) Locate the profile annotations window on the left side 2) Highlight one of the elements you want to annotate by clicking on it (see blue box) and then click the new button (see red box) 3) First click the new button to create the new annotation (red box). Next leave the 'Field Name' as (blue box) and click the ellipsis button next to the line below that (green box). This opens the free form annotation window. 4) Now click the 'Append > ' button and choose the different properties for how you want to create your label. How you layout your label is how it will look on the drawing area. You can choose to stack you labels, lay them out linearly, and include other prefixes, suffixes, characters, or words. Please see the screen shot below. Notice that you physically enter the spaces and the line breaks. This allows the annotation to look exactly how you have entered it on the drawing area. is the key code that allows that units to be displayed for a given property. Here is what the annotation looks like in the profile: After the annotation is placed you also have the ability to left click on it and drag it to any location you want. The locations can also be preset on the annotation properties that can be seen in the screen shot below step 3. You also have the ability to add a leader line, which is the line with the arrow that is seen in the screen shot below in the blue circle. To place it right click on the annotation in the engineering profile drawing pane and select "Annotation Properties" from the menu. When the Annotation Properties window opens click the check boxes for "Show Leader Line" and/or "Show Leader Arrow" (see screen shot below). Annotation Properties Dialog is show below:

Forum Post: RE: WaterGEMS for ArcMap Network Editing
Hi Kristen, Yes, I am in an edit session and using the WaterGEMS selection tool. Should I just be able to right click on a junction I want to merge and select "merge nodes in close proximity"? When I right click on a junction with the WaterGEMS selection tool I get the ArcMap options and not the WaterGEMS editing options that I would expect in the stand alone WaterGEMS version. Is it possible that I my version of WaterGEMS and ArcMap aren't compatible? My WaterGEMS version is 08.11.06.58 and my ArcMap version is 10.2.2.3552. Thanks for your help! Chris

Forum Post: RE: WaterGEMS for ArcMap Network Editing
Hi Chris, I'm using the same versions you are for both, with an Editor-level license. When I right-click with the WaterGEMS selection tool, I get the WaterGEMS context menu. (I get the ArcMap context menu when using the ArcMap selection tool.) You could try re-running the integrator, but otherwise tech support may need to take it from here. Kristen

Hi Chris, You mentioned that you're right clicking with the WaterGEMS Selection tool. Can you confirm that you're using the one circled below in red? Using the same versions you have, I see the Merge Nodes option when right-clicking (after entering an Edit session).

Forum Post: RE: WaterGEMS for ArcMap Network Editing
Yes. I can confirm that I am using the selection tool you have circled in red. If I right click in the "blank space" of my map the WaterGEMS editing options show up but they are all grayed out. If I do the same right click directly on the junction I just get the ArcMap options. I can also confirm that I am able to make edits to element properties in the WaterGEMS element control window.

Forum Post: RE: WaterGEMS for ArcMap Network Editing
If you're able to select and use the WaterGEMS Select tool, then it sounds like your Project is indeed open, like in the below screenshot (accessed from WaterGEMS > View > Project Manager Are you sure that the element you're right clicking on is a WaterGEMS element? Do you get the WaterGEMS menu options if you right click on a pipe? Do you see any problems in the Table of Contents? (Window > Table of Contents) You should see a single layer for each element type, with no red exclamation points). As a test, can you try starting a new Map, Add Existing Project, select one of the example models within the Samples folder under the WaterGEMS installation folder, save a new geodatabase in the same folder, start an edit session and see if the context menu works? If this does not help, we'll open a Service Request, connect with you offline to troubleshoot, then circle back to this forum thread once resolved.
