Forum Post: RE: Water Quality modeling through transient conditions

If you have air pulled into the system during a water quality event, the air is usually forced out very quickly and should have little effect on water quality.  If you do suspect some water quality effect, then you would model it with WaterGEMS' water quality feature because it will take a longer time scale for the quality effect to dissipate and is not really a transient issue. The real problem occurs when the air valve is submerged and instead of pulling in air, it pulls in dirty water. You can start a water quality run in WaterGEMS with contaminated water at that node. The problem is that you are just guessing at the initial water quality and chlorine demand of the water pulled in and mixed.
